Sonoline B Fetal Doppler Review
The Sonoline B Fetal Doppler is one of the more expensive home dopplers - retailing at twice the price of the bestselling AngelSounds fetal Doppler - but the professional quality justifies the price. Here is why the product is so good.
What comes in the box?
Before we get into the important matter of how well the product works, let's see what you'll actually be getting for the price. In the box you will find:
1 x Sonoline fetal Doppler
1x 250ml bottle of Ultrasound gel
What can the Sonoline Fetal Doppler do?
The Sonoline B Doppler has the following features:
A highly sensitive probe that can detect a fetal heartbeat from as early as 10 weeks into the pregnancy.
The fetal heart rate is displayed on a back-lit LCD screen, (something which cheaper models do not do). This feature gives you the absolute certainty that the sound you are picking up is the baby's heartbeat.
Unit has volume control.
Headphone socket for extra privacy, if the mother wishes.
Output socket for a recording cable, so the sounds can be recorded to PC or CD. This makes it easier to share the joy and excitement with friends and family, as well as making a lovely pregnancy keepsake. Baby heartbeat monitors will also pick up the sound of the mother's heartbeat. Recording this to CD will give you a useful tool for calming and soothing your fussing newborn, as most young babies respond well to white noise.
What is so great about this product?
The main selling point of the Sonoline B Doppler is its LCD screen. Fetal dopplers can sometimes take a little while to detect the baby's heartbeat, even in the hands of a midwife, and an untrained ear can sometimes mistake the mother's heartbeat for the sound of the baby's. A fetal heartbeat is much faster than an adults - it is often likened to the sound of a galloping horse - at around 120 to 160 beats per minute. The LCD screen will tell you this reading and give you the extra reassurance that the sound you have picked up is definitely the baby's heart, and not your own.
Because of the professional quality of this product, you can also expect a higher clarity of sound than cheaper products will give you.
Are there are any negatives?
Although this baby heart monitor does have the facility to make a recording of the baby or mother's heartbeat, it does not come with a cable. Therefore, if this a feature you want to utilise you will need to purchase a recording cable separately.
What do the customers think?
Here are a small selection of comments about the Sonoline B fetal Doppler, taken from Amazon:
"This is the best money we have spent so far this pregnancy. You can't put a price on peace of mind."
"This [baby heartbeat monitor] picks up the baby's heartbeat almost instantly, and has done since I was twelve weeks. The heart rate display is also a great help."
