A recording cable comes included so you can record the sound of his or her heartbeat. This recording can be transferred to CD and kept as a treasured memento or shared with excited relatives.
As well as recording the baby's heartbeat, you can also record your own. White noise is incredibly effective at soothing a fussing newborn, and a recording of the mother's familiar heartbeat can be extremely comforting to a little baby.
Anything else I need to know?
The AngelSounds Fetal Doppler should be used with ultrasound gel for ease of use and the clearest results. Many of the AngelSounds products come with a bottle of gel inclusive, but you can buy additional gel at the cost of a few pounds. A baby heart monitor should not be used with anything other than the water (as specified in the AngelSounds instructions) or the correct fetal Doppler gel. Substances such as baby oil will not work and can cause irreparable damage the probe.
Bear in mind that the earlier into pregnancy you are, the longer it may take to detect the baby's heartbeat - even a trained midwife can take several minutes to locate exactly the right position to hear it. As the pregnancy progresses and the baby grows much larger it should become much easier to get the transducer in the right place and you may hear other sounds such as kicks and even your baby's hiccups.
